The State Crime program covers the University’s loss of money, securities or checks by actual destruction, disappearance, forgery or wrongful abstraction (robbery or theft), either on premises or in transit. There is a $125,000 deductible per occurrence, which is the responsibility of the department incurring the loss. The limit of crime coverage provided by the State Plan is $3,000,000 per loss. The Board of Claims authorized State Risk Management to purchase a cyber liability insurance policy to cover all agencies including the University of Tennessee higher education system effective July 1, 2013. The cyber insurance policy covers items such as privacy breach response costs including customer notification and credit monitoring with a $5 million aggregate limit, security and privacy with a $5 million aggregate limit, and network asset protection that a $5 million aggregate limit. The insurance deductible for the Cyber Policy is $500,000 per occurrence. The state also purchases an excess cyber liability policy. It has a limit of liability of $5,000,000 excess of the $5,000,000 primary policy above.
