NOTICE: The university is prohibited from procuring any liability insurance without prior approval from the State of Tennessee Board of Claims. To ensure compliance, no department may procure commercial insurance without authorization from the System Office of Risk Management.

The University of Tennessee Office of Risk Management is proud to announce the reinstatement of the “Campers Insurance Program” for its athletic, academic, 4-H, and childcare departments on the campuses effective January 1, 2017. The purchase of the Campers Insurance is optional and is dependent upon each department’s discretion.

The Campers Insurance Program covers participants in case of accidental death, dismemberment, or incurred medical expense while participating in “scheduled, supervised, and sponsored activities of the Policyholder”. Campers Insurance is excess to other insurance. This helps alleviate most out-of-pocket costs to the family for a covered claim.

The following programs are eligible for coverage:

  • Daycare participants (Children and Staff)
  • 4H Camp participants
  • Youth Sport Camp participants (Grades: K-12)
  • Youth Academic Camp participants (Grades: K-12)

Instructions for Daycare:

  1. Confirm the number of children and staff registered for the year.
  2. Complete the Daycare Participation Report. (Keep a roster of those who have purchased this insurance available in case requested by the insurance company.

If an incident occurs, please complete the Incident Report. If the injury requires medical treatment, please request a claim form from the daycare director and give it to the parents/guardian. If they are unable to provide one please contact the Office of Risk Management.

Instructions for 4H Camps:

  1. Confirm your camp schedule(s).
  2. Complete the Request for Insurance Coverage 4H Form and submit it to the Office of Risk Management.
  3. Complete the 4H Camp Participation Report and submit it to the Office of Risk Management after camp ends.
    • Keep a roster of those who have purchased this insurance in case requested by the insurance company

If an incident occurs, please complete the Incident Report. If the injury requires medical treatment, the staff should give the parents/guardians an AIG claim form to complete; the camp director should have these on file.

Instructions for Youth Academic and Sports Camps:

  1. Confirm your camp schedule(s).
  2. Complete the appropriate Request for Insurance Coverage Form below and submit it to the Office of Risk Management.
  3. Complete the respective Participation Report and submit it to the Office of Risk Management after camp ends. On the form, list each camp week individually with the number of participants involved in each camp.
    • Keep a roster of those who have purchased this insurance in case requested by the insurance company

If an incident occurs, please complete the Incident Report. If the injury requires medical treatment, please give the parents/guardian an AIG claim form; the camp director should have these on file.
